The AERO-TAC™ 5" mid-height side-zip boots from the U.S. brand First Tactical were developed to give us the agility of a sports sneaker with the durability and support of a professional boot. Their 5" (12.7 cm) mid-height shaft, combined with an incredibly lightweight construction, makes them a very appealing choice for those looking for a boot that lets them move quickly without giving up the stability and protection of a professional boot.
The boot upper is made of polyester mesh with hyperfused TPU overlays, a technology that continuously bonds the reinforcements to increase durability, reduce overall weight, and improve abrasion resistance. It also includes a TPU reinforced toe cap (it is not completely rigid like a safety boot), an internal nylon shank for structural support and a YKK® side zipper, which makes them quicker to put on and take off.
On the inside, the boots feature a mesh lining with Aegis® antimicrobial treatment, designed to combat the bacteria that cause odor and help maintain a long-lasting feeling of freshness. The boots also feature an Ortholite® insole that provides greater cushioning, breathability, and excellent comfort.
The AMPD™ midsole, made from a compression-molded EVA blend, reduces load on the foot and absorbs impact to help reduce fatigue. On the other hand, the REZ-TRAC™ outsole has been designed to deliver multidirectional traction and stability, while also exceeding the slip-resistance standards EN 20345:2022 and ASTM F3445-21. It is also a metal-free boot, so it can be used in environments where footwear compatible with access control is required.
