The Combat Application Tourniquet® or more commonly known as the CAT Gen. 7 tourniquet is, without a doubt, the most widely used and recognized tactical tourniquet worldwide. This seventh generation includes major design improvements that increase effectiveness and durability, and make self-application easier even in extreme situations.
The windlass has been reinforced to provide greater durability and break resistance, while the redesigned buckle improves stability and the effectiveness of the closure. Its larger working diameter allows for more efficient occlusion of blood flow.
The new design includes non-slip grips that significantly improve hold, even with gloves or wet hands, as well as a quick-lock windlass system with a bilateral buttress that provides additional strength and greater safety during use.
The United States Army Institute of Research has determined that the CAT® Gen. 7 is 100% effective in stopping blood flow in upper and lower limbs.
