The NVG AETERNUS binoculars from U.S. brand Low Light Innovations offers a revolutionary night vision system that redefines industry standards with incredible features and performance.
The binoculars are powered by a single CR123 battery, the AETERNUS from Low Light Innovations stands out by offering us a larger battery capacity. The brand's developers eliminated the binocular's IR illuminator, which contributes to the battery life extending up to 40 hours of battery life.
Weight is also one of the strong points of this binocular, weighing only 535 grams (without battery). According to the manufacturer, the AETERNUS binocular has the toughest and most user-friendly fixed housing on the market, and has improved structural integrity by offering a waterproof system.
The binoculars are submersible to 18 meters (60 feet) making it suitable for amphibious operations. Featuring a focus range of 9.8 inches to infinity, a 40-degree field of view and an interpupillary adjustment of 51 to 73 mm, the AETERNUS stands as the pinnacle of optical excellence. Its compatibility with MX-10160 optics, eyepiece and PVS-14 objective further extends its functionality.
This unit is mounted with MILSPEC lenses from the USA, but other types of lenses can be mounted to reduce costs (OE), or RPO lenses, which are lighter, but with a higher price.
Each binocular is meticulously assembled, purged and tested one by one with precision tools. They must pass rigorous quality and strength tests.
Among many other tests, they are drop tested to meet MIL-STD-810G standards, which consists of 26 drops to a height of 1.22 meters (4 feet) onto concrete.
All intensifier tubes may have some imperfection in the image represented by spots of less than 0.3mm, usually there are only one or two visible imperfections, but these do not affect the vision as they simply blur with the image being viewed.
The FOM (Figure of metric) is a simple way to calculate the performance of a viewfinder, it is easily calculated by multiplying the resolution x the noise of the image we see through the viewfinder. The higher the FOM, the better the quality of vision.
Featuring Auto-Gating, this technology allows the device to automatically adjust the amount of light amplification in real time to adapt to changes in ambient brightness. This feature is particularly useful in situations where there are intense light sources, such as vehicle headlights or city lights, which could dazzle the device and affect image quality. This helps to maintain a clear and sharp image without compromising the user's vision in varying lighting environments.
